How much electricity does an Airdog use, and what does it cost to run?

Modified on Wed, 4 Nov at 11:47 AM

Airdog purifiers are designed to be easy on your electric bill, and there are no replacement filters to buy.

Maximum power draw by model (highest fan speed)

  • X1 Gen 2: 20W
  • X3 (Gen 1 and Gen 2): 27W
  • X5 Gen 2: 55W (X5 Gen 1: 60W)
  • Pet Air Purifier (X5 Pet): 55W
  • P50 Pet Air Purifier: 35W
  • X8 (Gen 1 and Gen 2): 110W
  • MOI humidifier: 18W rated

What does that cost?

Most of the time your Airdog won't run at max speed. In Auto mode it reads the air quality and adjusts the fan on its own. For example, the X5 draws about 11W to 40W in Auto mode, roughly $0.10 to $0.15 a day, or $3 to $4.50 a month. At an average of 30W that's about $47 a year, compared with about $91 a year for a typical 70W HEPA purifier.

Even at full speed 24 hours a day, at an example rate of $0.15 per kWh, the cost is roughly:

  • X3: about $0.10 a day ($2.92 a month)
  • X5 Gen 2 or Pet Air: about $0.20 a day ($5.94 a month)
  • X8: about $0.40 a day ($11.88 a month)

Your local rate may be higher or lower (the US average is around 17.45 cents per kWh).

Are there other ongoing costs?

No filter subscriptions. The collecting plates and pre-filter are washable and reusable, so there's no filter cost on top of electricity.
