Great question. Air moves between rooms, so a purifier in one room does help nearby spaces. But it works best in the room it's in, because walls and doors slow the air down. For the best results, we recommend one purifier per room you use most, or at least one per floor.
Coverage by model
"Recommended" is the room size cleaned about 4 times an hour (best for allergies). "Up to" is the maximum area at 1 air change per hour.
- X1 (Gen 2): recommended 112 sq ft, up to 450 sq ft
- X3 (Gen 2): recommended 215 sq ft, up to 860 sq ft
- P50 Pet Air Purifier: recommended up to 323 sq ft, up to 1,290 sq ft
- X5 (Gen 2) and Pet Air Purifier: recommended about 400 to 540 sq ft, up to 1,600 sq ft
- X8 (Gen 2): recommended 1,000 sq ft, up to 4,000 sq ft
Example: a 1,200 sq ft single-level home
If you have two main rooms that add up to about 1,000 sq ft, two X5 units (one per room) will usually do better than one large X8. Because Airdog uses very little power and has no filters to buy, running your purifiers 24/7 is easy and gives the best results.
Where should I place it?
Leave at least 3 to 6 inches of open space above the air outlet, keep the area in front of the outlet clear, and point it toward the middle of the room.
