Error code 924 or other 9XX codes on the display

Modified on Wed, 4 Nov at 11:48 AM

A 9XX code (like 924) is an electronics signal that usually means the collecting plates need a deep clean, or that a part is damaged. In most cases a thorough cleaning clears it.

Step 1: Unplug and do a full cleaning

  1. Unplug the unit.
  2. Give the collecting plates a thorough rinse in the sink or tub with a strong hot-water spray. Spray both the front and back and let the dirt wash out.
  3. Wipe the grey rubber lining where the plates and wire frame sit.
  4. Clean both sides of the wire frame very gently with a dry, soft sponge or the padded eraser from the Care Starter Kit. Never use water on the wire frame, and be gentle, as the wires can break.

Step 2: Dry completely

Let the plates dry fully before reinstalling: at least 24 hours (and always 24 hours for metal plates). Any leftover moisture can bring the code back.

Step 3: Restart and check

Plug the unit back in and turn it on. If you see -C-, reset it: Press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps. Let go on the second beep, then give the unit 3 to 5 minutes to recalibrate.

The code is still there. What next?

Check whether a collecting plate is chipped or its plastic frame is cracked. If the code doesn't go away after a full clean and dry, the unit may need service. Contact us with your order number and a photo of the display and your filters, and we'll help with next steps.
